Remodel update Back Bath

This is the back bathroom in the old house I am remodeling and you can see from the colors I probably should have just said "this is a retro bath" and left it alone! I'm sorry, I could not take the blue and pink, and, of course, the floor had to go!

Well the area where you see the square in the floor had been replaced once before and we discovered the reason it kept rotting out was a leak between the sink drain and commode! No way to get into the backside, so tile had to be removed under the sink to get to the leak>

So leak repaired and floor tiled!

Just wait till you hear the rest of the story in this continuing saga!

Summer Perennials

Hot summer time makes me appreciate putting in perennials in years gone by! Especially since we had such a late and wet spring that I didn't get many annuals out this year. I call this purple bush Russian Sage, but am open to names if you think it's something different! All these are blooming in my yard right now!

My roses are kind of sad this year, but I've always loved the color of this one.....

These are my garden statuettes of my 8 grand-children, peeking out of the 4-o-clocks.

Larkspur, maybe?

Daylillies seem to thrive in hot weather

And, of course, sunflowers are one of my favorites! These all came back from ones I had in my garden last year. Actually they are just about all I have in my vegetable garden this year!

Judy Nolen, these are for you! (Judy gave me a start of these last year and I love them! They had surprising flowers in the spring!)

"Daisy, Daisy, tell me your answer, true" The are just beginning to bloom.

Another day lilly, Beautiful colors, wish they would bloom in the fall!

Echinacea also do well in hot and dry. Through the years, hot and dry tolerant plants have made me happy!

The mint flowers are making the butterflies and bees happy!

These beauties come back in my pots by the door every year, anyone know their name? The blooms just last a day or two, but the plant just keeps getting taller and blooming all summer.

This Old House..remodeling in Alma, AR

This is the old bathroom

I have always wanted to "re-do" an old house and finally realized I had one! My mom's house in Alma, AR was the original Warnock house built around 1938. The old green tile and you-cannot-ever-get-clean bathtub were REALLY outdated!

Below is the completed front bathroom, thanks to Bob's Repair and Design and Willow House, it has a wonderful update and a shower instead of a bathtub, beadboard replaced the green tile and new tile on the floor replaced the old white linoleum. New commode and sink I found at a great price at Yeager's in Van Buren and a walk-in shower from Lowe's replaced the old tub. Willow House Hathaway towel bars, soap holder, tissue holder and a Chancellor mirror really made it outstanding!

And this is the new!!

I still have to get curtains, but so thrilled with the completed project!

My Yard in May

Just a quick note to show you why I'm loving my yard this month! Perennials are definitely the way to go...now if I can just keep the weeks away!

Memorial Day place setting

In memory of those who have gone before, whether Veteran or family and friends, Memorial Day is set aside for us to pay tribute. Many put out flags at Veteran's cemeteries and some of our local cemeteries have a "decoration day" for remembering those buried there. Some of us get a vacation day for this remembrance and lots get together for a family and friends meal.

These Willow House pieces might give you an idea for a table setting. I used the Eyelet Ribbon Plate as a charger on a blue placemat and flag print bandanas woven through the "eyelets". If you need a square charger with the same idea, you could use our Dress-Me-Up glass Platter. Or, you could use red, white and blue ribbon and you could also use our Gramercy Ribbon Plate, (which is one you can also write on with a dry erase marker and you could even bake something on it and then weave the ribbon through it!) If you buy one of the Gramercy plates and want to write on it and stand it up, you could get the Galveston Must-Have Holder at half price!

I used the Cinnabar Accent plates and the Portico Accent Plates for that added pop of red and white and then as a centerpiece the Cinnabar vase with white mums and flags. I just love the Amelia Thimble Domes and put one on top of the plates, with plans for a mini-cupcake to be served there! I think I will use a predominately blue frosting to bring a little more blue into this picture. A white Villa mug completed this place setting.

With any Willow House purchase of $39.96 or more you get something that price or less at 1/2 price, so remember that when you want to buy something!
